WHEELS AND ROLLERS OF PALLET TRUCKS
Wheels at the drawbar
The wheels at the drawbar of the pallet truck are used to maneuver the truck. They are always double wheels made of:
- nylon – the hardest material, the least wearing but having the highest rolling resistance, recommended for smooth surfaces due to the fact that carts with these wheels are noisier more difficult to drive
- polyurethane – an intermediate material between rubber and nylon
- rubber – the most flexible material, quiet and easy to drive the cart but also the fastest wearing
Rollers at the forks
Rollers at the forks make it easier to overcome thresholds. PROMAG pallet trucks can be equipped with single or double rollers made of:
- nylon – this is the hardest material, which guarantees a long service life of the rollers, it is recommended primarily for smooth surfaces
- polyurethane – this is a faster-wearing material than nylon, but more flexible, and therefore a cart equipped with polyurethane wheels is quieter and easier to operate
- rubber – the most flexible material, quiet and easier to operate the cart, but also the fastest-wearing
Double rollers facilitate the operation of the cart and increase the service life of the wheels, which are the fastest-wearing element in not only pallet trucks.
Pallet trucks are equipped with overrun rollers, rollers at the forks and control wheels at the drawbar. Overrun rollers at the forks make it easier for a pallet truck to drive under a pallet of goods. The most common solution used in industry is a pallet truck with rubber wheels and rollers at the forks made of polyurethane. On the other hand, in the pharmaceutical and food industry, the most common solution is a pallet truck with wheels and rollers made of nylon, as this solution makes it easier to keep the warehouse clean.
