THE BENEFITS OF WAREHOUSE AUTOMATION:
Compared to a traditional warehouse based on human labour, an automated warehouse can operate at 100% efficiency 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Machines do not get tired and do not make mistakes like humans.
The stacker cranes that move the load units can handle warehouse heights of over 30 metres, and the AutoMAG Mover system can handle a warehouse height of up to 20 metres, which is not possible with forklift-operated warehouses. With AutoMAG Shuttle and AutoMAG Mover automated racks, up to 80% more pallets can be stored than in traditional in-row racks and 30% more than in drive-in racks.
The working philosophy of automated systems, i.e. ‘goods to man’ instead of ‘man to goods’, virtually eliminates the workstations involved in moving load units around the warehouse, significantly reducing labour costs.
Where working conditions are difficult, such as low temperatures or high humidity, the use of process automation eliminates human labour in arduous conditions, reducing labour costs.
An automated warehouse carries out its work according to predetermined indicators, unlike a human whose work performance is the result of many factors related to professional and personal life. Dedicated software algorithms that control the operation of automated warehouses ensure that processes are optimised to achieve maximum speed of order fulfilment, e.g. no empty runs.
